Howdy ,
Randy here at the Super Speciosa warehouse, where we've been kicking off the new year with a storm. I'm taking a quick break from fulfilling orders to explain a word we throw around here a lot: "mitragynine." It's one of the most important things that makes kratom kratom.
Plants contain phytochemicals, or biologically active compounds, and alkaloids are one type of phytochemical. Alkaloids bind to receptors in the body to activate a physiological or psychological change. Some common alkaloids you might already know about are caffeine and nicotine.
Kratom leaves can contain up to 30 different kinds of alkaloids, but the most abundant alkaloid is called mitragynine. Mitragynine is the special substance in kratom that gives it the effects and benefits it's known for. Basically, caffeine is to coffee as mitragynine is to kratom. The mitragynine levels in kratom can vary from batch to batch based on where the plant is grown, how mature the plant is, and many other factors. The amount of mitragynine in your kratom is the main lever to your experience with kratom. Usually, lower mitragynine levels feel more energizing, and higher levels can help with relaxation and everyday physical relief.
We test our kratom in small batches to understand its mitragynine levels (and to make sure it's as pure as possible), and then categorize it based on its strength. We always publish the results of those tests on the product pages of our website and our packaging with easily scannable QR codes.
If you're just starting out, we recommend starting out with lower levels of mitragynine, like Green Malay or White Thai. If you're more experienced, higher mitragynine products like Signature Reserve might be a great fit for you. If you ever have any questions about how much mitragynine to take, don't hesitate to ask: I'm happy to help, just reply to this email.
Take it easy,
Randy
